K’s Choice bassist slams Costello, By JERUSALEM POST STAFF (24/05/2010)
Belgian musician's innocent remark on Facebook causes waves.
Eric Grossman, the bassist for Belgian rock band K’s Choice [site officiel de K's Choice], which recently performed to an adoring crowd at Tel Aviv’s Barby club, has won himself legions more Israeli fans with an apparently innocent remark he made a few days ago regarding Elvis Costello’s controversial choice to skip out on his planned concert here.
It all started when Grossman wrote on his Facebook page that he "thinks Elvis Costello is a big giant douchebag." Then the responses began pouring in.
"Eric, God bless you!!! As if E.C was cancelling a show in Gaza due to the same reasons,” wrote Mickey Raviv. "So now he’s a political hero of people who unfortunately don’t know his music. So sad."
And Chani Lerner remarked: "I always loved K’s Choice, but now I’m completely in love with you guys!! Thanx so much for coming!!! And Elvis Costello is a giant douche!!!"
According to Yaniv Vaydgorin "Music should not be involved with politics. Eric you are right there is war everywhere and the only thing that connects people around the world is music... and McDonald’s :)"
A surprised Grossman thanked his fans for the outpouring of support, writing, "I am humbled, honored, and overwhelmed by the literally hundreds of messages and friend requests I have received in the last 24 hours from the kind people of Israel, and others, simply because I stated an opinion that I thought was just common sense. I feel the love, and I send it back tenfold. Thank you (Toda)."
K's Choice bass player: Costello, you're an idiot : "Grossman, who fell in love with Israel during his stay, wrote on his Facebook page on Friday, "Well done. You’re an idiot. Ditto to Santana, Bono, and all the other self important ego-maniacs, who think the Israeli people don’t deserve their presence.""
